Hub-Drive Error Code 10 - Communication Error

Communication Error

Error Code 010 Description: Error Code 010 typically indicates a communication problem between the motor, controller, and/or the display unit on your e-bike. This error can occur due to various reasons, including loose connections, damaged wiring, or software issues. To resolve this issue, follow the step-by-step troubleshooting guide below:

Troubleshooting Error Code 10:

  1. Inspect Connections:

    • Start by checking all the connections between the motor, controller, display, and battery. Ensure that all connectors are securely plugged in, and there are no loose or damaged wires.
    • Pay close attention to the connectors near the motor and the display unit, as these are common areas where connectivity issues can occur.
  2. Battery Check:

    • Confirm that your battery is fully charged. A low battery charge can sometimes trigger error codes. If your battery is low, charge it fully and try again.
    • If you have a spare battery, try using it to see if the error persists. This can help determine if the issue is with the battery itself.
  3. Inspect Display Unit:

    • Examine the display unit for any physical damage or signs of water infiltration. Moisture can cause communication errors. If you find any damage or water ingress, contact QuietKat for support.
  4. Reset the System:

    • Sometimes, resetting the system can clear error codes. To do this, turn off the e-bike and disconnect the battery for a few minutes. Reconnect the battery and turn the bike back on to check if the error is resolved.
  5. Professional Assistance:

    • If you've followed all the above steps and the error code 010 persists, please fill out a customer support ticket. They can diagnose and repair more complex issues with the motor or control system. Please note in your support ticket any signs of physical damage to the wiring/connections you may have found.

Typical Resolution:

After submitting your customer support ticket, wait for a CS representative to get back to you. We will likely replace the controller, motor, and/or display depending on the behaviors of your bike. If you are still within your warranty period, or have the Extend warranty, these will be covered. If you are outside of your warranty period, we will send you a quote for the replacement part(s).
