How to Repair a Flat Tire

Learn to replace the inner tube and repair a flat tire on your QuietKat Electric Bike

  1. Tools Needed:

    • Tire irons
    • Standard bicycle pump with a Schrader valve
  2. Removing the Wheel:

    • Loosen the bolts on your fixed axle or unthread your thru-axle, and remove the wheel.
  3. Deflating the Tube:

    • Locate the valve and press the valve in towards the tire while squeezing the tire to release any remaining air. This will ensure the tube is fully deflated.
  4. Removing the Tire:

    • Make sure the bead is completely separated from the rim by pressing the tire along the rim on both sides.
    • Insert a tire iron (metal or plastic will work) in between the rim and the bead of the tire and start to peel the tire off the rim on one side.
    • It's easiest to leave one side of the tire on the rim, but you can certainly separate the tire from the rim entirely.
  5. Taking Out the Inner Tube:

    • Locate the valve, push it up into the rim, reach in between the rim and tire, and grab the inner tube.
    • Slowly pull the inner tube out of the tire and rim and discard the old tube.
  6. Preparing the New Tube:

    • Use a new tube, such as the Kenda Juggernaut tube. Replacement tubes can be purchased on our website
    • Pre-inflate the tube slightly for easier installation.
  7. Installing the New Tube:

    • Insert the new tube in between the tire, ensuring the tube is straight and not twisted around the rim.
    • Start at the valve, work the tube into the tire, and align the valve with the rim hole.
  8. Putting the Tire Back On:

    • Start at the valve and work your way around, pressing the tire bead under the rim.
    • Use your thumbs to push the tire bead back under the rim.
    • For the last section, use a tire lever for added leverage if you are unable to get the last of the bead onto the rim with your thumbs alone.
  9. Inflating the Tire:

    • Inflate the tire to the recommended pressure:
      • 18 pounds recommended (12-14 pounds for soft terrain, up to 22 pounds for hard pack or road).
  10. Reinstalling the Wheel:

    • Reinstall the rear wheel.
    • The bike is now ready to ride.

By following these steps, you can efficiently replace the inner tube in a flat tire and get back on the trail.
