How to Troubleshoot Electrical Issues

Determine potential issues with your bike when you are not getting a motor response.

  1. Check Screen for Error Codes:

    • Power on the bike and check the screen for any error codes.
    • If an error code is displayed, contact Customer Service for assistance.
  2. Brake Sensor Cut-Off:

    • Locate the brake sensor connection under the Velcro straps near the brake.
    • Unplug both brake sensors, front and rear, and test the motor for response (throttle or pedal assist). You can still ride your bike with the brake sensors disconnected; the brakes will function but there will not be a signal to the motor to cut off when you are braking, so be cautious.
    • If you now have motor response with the brake sensors disconnected, reconnect one side at a time to identify which sensor was faulty. Whichever cuts motor power when reconnected will be your faulty sensor in need of replacement.
    • Ensure proper connection and check for bent prongs.
  3. Throttle Wire Check:

    • Remove Velcro on the side and follow the throttle wire into the bundle.
    • Unplug and reconnect the throttle connection.
    • Throttle wire uses a yellow plug; ensure correct reconnection.
  4. Shift Sensor (If Applicable to Your Bike):

    • Identify the shift sensor and check for a blinking red light if it is on.
    • Ensure proper functioning of the shift sensor. While riding, your motor should temporarily cut out when you shift.
  5. Preliminary Diagnosis:

    • If the bike starts after checking the brake sensor or throttle wire, it indicates a potential issue with the respective component. Contact customer service for a replacement.
    • Verify proper connections and check for any damage.
    • If problems persist, contact QuietKat Customer Service for further assistance.

Remember, if you encounter issues during the troubleshooting process, reaching out to QuietKat for guidance is recommended. They can provide detailed assistance based on your specific situation.
